Tourism Practicum program
1. One month duration.
2. Typical weekly schedule includes morning in-class briefings/discussions and afternoon site visits.
Weekends are available for travel.
3. Three meals are served daily during the 1month program. Participants will stay in campus dormitory or
with homestay families nearby.
4. Practicum periods are monthly starting in the beginning of May through September. Other periods can
be arranged by special request.
5. Introduction to the tourism in Niagara Falls, including tourist attractions (Maid-of-the-Mist boats,
Marineland, Skylon, etc. consisting of rides, observation towers, parks, scenic sites, historic sites,
hydroelectric power generation site, day/night attractions, seasonal attractions, age-dependent
attractions, and fireworks), tourist support (entertainment, culture, arts, shopping, accommodation,
camping, food, transportation, parking, sports, guides, languages and publicity), and tourism ancillary
support (policies, laws, security, medical facilities, tourist survey, tourist expenditure analysis,
economic impact analysis, government support, USA/Canada border impact, duty-free merchandise
sale, and planning).
6. Behind-the-scene tours of selected tourist attractions, tourist support systems and tourism ancillary
organizations.
7. Experience sharing by selected tourism personnel.
8. Award of Tourism Practicum Certificate upon completion of program.
Language of program
English, unless at least 20 participants form a group that requests the use of a foreign language such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish, German, and Italian, and the request is granted.

ONTARIO
With so much to explore, Ontario is difficult to cover in one short vacation. It manages to include both Canada’s most populous city Toronto, and areas so remote that polar bears outnumber humans. It has a tranquil farm country in its southern region, growing diverse crops that include grapes and peaches. However, in the midst of this rural landscape are two small towns, Stratford and Niagara-on-the-Lake that stage some of the finest theatre in North America. There is an incredible wealth of water — the five Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers, and 250,000 inland lakes with numerous islands. In addition, there is Niagara Falls, the most famous water spectacle of them all.
NIAGARA FALLS
One of the world’s most famous travel destinations, these impressive 170-ft-/53-m-high falls on the border of the U.S. and Canada continue to offer the same combination of natural wonder and commercial tackiness that has inspired visitors since the 19th century. Even if you are not on your honeymoon, they are well worth seeing. The area can be seen in a day, but we recommend an overnight stay to view the falls and rapids under different lighting conditions from both sides of the border.
